Walk a Mile in Their Shoes
Thursday, October 24 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM
Starting on the corner of Rockhill Ave and State St (Next to UMU Hartshorn Townhouses)
Walk a Mile in Their Shoes invites community members to literally walk a mile in someone else’s shoes to spark conversations about the challenging topics of gender relations and gender-based sexual violence.
While walking in another’s shoes isn’t easy, it’s a powerful and engaging way to raise awareness.
By stepping into someone else’s shoes, participants symbolically connect with the experiences of victims and survivors of gender-based violence. This event aims to increase awareness of the profound impact sexual and domestic violence has on our community.

Christmas Outreach Program
YWCA Alliance’s Christmas Outreach Program connects families in need of assistance with gifts & sponsors willing to provide gifts.
For those in need of gifts for their children this year:
An intake must be completed over the phone by calling (330) 823-1840. We will ask about your children’s clothing sizes, wants, and needs for this Christmas season. Intakes are open now, and the deadline to complete one is Friday, November 1, 2024.
Your family CANNOT be signed up with any other Christmas programs, such as the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, etc.
Our goal is to help the maximum number of children, so if you received Christmas assistance from our organization in the last two years, then you’re not eligible this year.
For those interested in purchasing gifts for a family in need this year:
By signing up as a Christmas Sponsor through the YWCA, you agree to provide 3-4 gifts per child that you sponsor. These gifts must be wrapped, labeled, and dropped off to the YWCA by Friday, December 6, 2024.
To sign up as a sponsor, please fill out THIS Google Form, or contact our office at (330) 823-1840. We would appreciate all sponsors signing up by Friday, November 1, 2024.

The walk starts in the Camelot Pocket Park, which is on the corner of S Arch Ave and E Main Street. After the walk, enjoy the festivities of Main Street Alliance’s Final Friday! There will be food vendors, music, art, and more!
This highly anticipated event is more than just a walk—it’s a powerful gathering that celebrates community, inclusivity, and the strength that comes from coming together as one. The importance of community gatherings like the Unity Walk cannot be overstated. In times of division and uncertainty, these events offer a vital opportunity to bridge gaps, celebrate our commonalities, and reinforce the values of empathy and understanding. The Unity Walk provides a space where people from all walks of life can connect, share experiences, and unite in a common purpose, strengthening the fabric of our community and reinforcing our collective resilience.
