Week Without Violence 2024

Week Without Violence 2024

Week Without Violence is a national YWCA initiative held the third full week of October each year. The goal is to end violence against women and girls by raising awareness and working together to create change. This year’s theme revolves around financial abuse and trauma.

Join us as we raise awareness, elevate survivor voices, talk with policymakers, and more with a common goal: centering survivors so that together, we can end gender-based violence.

  • Financial Abuse is an often-overlooked form of domestic violence, affecting millions of Americans. Financial Abuse occurs in 99% of relationships where abuse happens, forcing many into mental, emotional and financial stress. To get a better understanding of financial abuse, listen a survivor’s story HERE.

Today, customize your own Week Without Violence poster, take a selfie with it, and share it on social media using #WWV24 and tag @ywcaalliance. A fillable poster can be found HERE.

  • Click HERE to explore the unique challenges faced by teens, with content on how to identify financial child abuse and the growing prevalence of financial abuse in teen relationships.

Today we invite you to engage your members of Congress by taking action online. Find your members of Congress HERE, then call, message, and tweet at them about issues regarding violence.

  • This resource provide strategies on leaving abusive relationships and highlight the importance of financial empowerment in the recovery process.

Come together with us for a Dine to Donate at Chipotle between 5-9 PM. Order online for pickup with code VLQKYQB or show this flier when ordering in restaurant at the Alliance Chipotle. YWCA Alliance will receive 25% of all proceeds to fund programs that serve, empower, and elevate the voices of Domestic Violence survivors.

  • Today’s focus is on financial trauma and how the persistent wealth gap in America disproportionately impacts women of color, reinforcing cycles of economic instability and trauma. Learn more about this topic HERE.

On this day, join is for our annual Walk a Mile in Their Shoes event. This unique and powerful event aims to raise awareness for gender relations and gender-based violence. For further details about the event, please click HERE.

  • Today's focus is on legislative advocacy, tools for financial empowerment, and guidance on financial activism, helping individuals move money and power in meaningful ways.

We invite you to join @YWCAUSA and @YWCAAlliance for a social media storm to raise awareness about financial abuse and its impacts. Feel free to share YWCA posts or make your own and use #WWV24.

  • Today will emphasize the importance of financial well-being and self-care with resources such as breathing exercises, ways to practice financial self-care, and tips for coping with financial stress.

As one way to practice self care today, we invite you and your family to join us for Fall Festival, a free community event that includes trunk-or-treat, a balloon artist, snacks, refreshments, and more. For further details, please click HERE.
